James Eli Billings Sr., 85, of North Wilkesboro, passed away, Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Mr. Billings was born July 22, 1935, in Wilkes County to Romulus and Catherine Blackburn Billings. James was a member of Christian Home Baptist Church in Traphill. He loved car racing and the Carolina Tar Heels. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geraldine Combs Billings; son, Eric Eugene Billings; brothers, Tyra Billings, Chester Billings, Lester Billings; sisters, Pearl Morrell, Jettie Carey, Alma Healy, Ruth Billings and Rachel Absher; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Roger Billings.
Surviving are his children, Cheryl Shumate and spouse, Mitchell, of Wilkesboro, Belinda Robbins and spouse, Billy, of Hamptonville, Joanna Meyerhoffer and spouse, Marlin, of North Wilkesboro, James Billings Jr. of North Wilkesboro and Kimberly Mahan and spouse, Johnny, of Hamptonville; the following grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren: Brian Cleary, Adam Shumate, Neveyah Shumate, Micky Harris (Ana Maria), Mandy Harris, LeeAnn Robbins, Kayleigh Lovette, Kaleb Lovette, Dylan Warden, Olivia Harris, Sara Harris, Justin Meyerhoffer and (Nichole), Ryan Meyerhoffer, Aubree Meyerhoffer, Bryson Meyerhoffer, David Mahan (Brandi), Johnny Lee Mahan (Anita), Katherine Myers (Brian), Peyton Mahan, Colton Mahan, Houston Mahan, Alexis Myers, Isaiah Myers, Kade Myers, Anna Bass, Jamie Bass, Alisha Dountz (Jason), Lori Shew (Steven), Eli Billings, Alexis Foster, Hailey Foster, Madison Foster, Micah Foster, Makayla Dountz, Waylon Dountz, Joshua Dountz, Serenity Dountz, Makenzie Dountz, Kendalyn Dountz, Liam Shew, Audri Dountz, Braylen Dountz, Legacy Dountz, Dillion Billings; sister, Hazel Freeman and spouse, Harding “Bud,” of Winston Salem; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, at Christian Home Baptist Church with Pastor Chad Hendren and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends at Miller Funeral Service from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
Pallbearers will be Adam Shumate, Justin Meyerhoffer, Ryan Meyerhoffer, Johnny Lee Mahan and Kaleb Lovette.
