Jackie Hawkins Medley, 73, passed away Friday, May 31, 2019, at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Medical Center. She was born Jan. 6, 1946, in Wilkes County to Nymphus and Moletta Crabb Hawkins.
Mrs. Medley retired from Wilkes County Animal Control and was a member of Middle Cross Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Medley, and two sisters, Freida Spicer and Frankie Simmons.
Survivors include her godson, Cory Wilmoth and wife, Kimberly; her nieces and nephews, Tammy Handy and husband, Carl, Tina Henley and husband, Ken, Greg Spicer, Randy Spicer, Dexter Spicer, Phillip Spicer and wife, Debbie, Abigail Watson and husband, Tim, and Penny Casstevens and husband, Kent; her lifelong friend, Bobbi Taylor; and many great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Middle Cross Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jason Whitley and the Rev. Joe Sturgill officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening 6 to 8 at Elkin Funeral Service.
Memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or Middle Cross Baptist Church Building Fund.
The family would like to thank the staff of Wilkes Medical Center, especially the nurses in the telemetry unit, and Mountain Valley Hospice for their care.
