James “Harold” Messick, 90, of Ferguson, passed away Tuesday, Nov.12, 2019 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, with the Rev. Sherrill Wellborn and the Rev. David Wellborn officiating. Burial will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m., prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Mr. Messick was born Feb. 6, 1929, in Wilkes County to Lake and Myrtle Barnett Messick. He was a mechanic and a member of Lewis Fork Baptist Church. Harold served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Ernest Messick; his brother- in-law, Tommy Turner; and a nephew.
Harold is survived by his loving wife, Jean Greer Messick of the home; a son, Derrick Messick and wife, Christina, of Wilkesboro; two grandchildren, Kaylee and Darin Messick; a sister, Adeline Turner of Wilkesboro; a brother, Arthur Messick and spouse, Gay, of Wilkesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
