GRACE THOMAS

  Minnie “Grace” Marlow Thomas, 97, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, in Jacksonville, Fla.

She was born and raised in Wilkes County and moved to Charlotte when she was 21 to attend Queens Business College. She worked at Chadbourne Hosiery Mill in Charlotte for 20 years, then went to work for Aetna Insurance Company. That job took her to Jacksonville, Fla., where she retired in 1983. 

She was a member of Arlington Baptist Church and the Arlington Women’s Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Phineas Marlow and Vetra Broyhill Marlow, and her husband, William Leonard Thomas.

She is survived by her only child, Donna Warpool (Toby), and her beloved grandchildren, Jeremy Warpool, Alyssa Newell (Jacob), and Matthew Warpool. She was the eldest of 10 children, and survived them all.

She had many loving cousins and extended family members who meant the world to her, plus all of the sweet neighborhood ladies with whom she was friends. She was a loyal, kind, devoted mother and grandmother and will be missed by all.

Memorial services will be held Monday, June 10, 2019, at 3 p.m. at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Fla.Grace Thomas,
