Georgia Minton Wyatt, 91, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Wilkes Assisted Living in North Wilkesboro. Mrs. Wyatt was born Sept. 17, 1929, in Wilkes County to William and Alma Minton. Georgia was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a lifelong seamstress and was known for her ability to make anything, having sewn dresses for her daughter-in-law in the 1970s and beautiful quilts for her grandchildren. Georgia fondly remembered her days working as a telephone operator at Southern Bell Telephone in Charlotte, as well as her time as a volunteer at Wilkes General Hospital.
Mrs. Wyatt is preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Calvin Mitchell Wyatt, and by her two sons, Danny Michael Wyatt and Gary Mitchell Wyatt.
She is survived by her brother, Max Hannon Minton of Wilkesboro; her granddaughter, Carissa Dawn Wyatt of Nashville, Tenn.; her grandson, Danny Michael Wyatt Jr. of Purlear; her grandson, Danny Christopher Wyatt of Wilkesboro; her great-grandson, Brady Michael Wyatt of Wilkesboro; her great-granddaughter, Autumn Claire Wyatt of Wilkesboro; and loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Mountlawn Memorial Park with Chaplain Devin Marlow speaking. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Wilkes Assisted Living and Wake Forest Baptist Care at Home Hospice for their tender care and kindness toward Georgia during her last months of life. We are eternally grateful to Dr. Susan Albert and Heidee Lail, RN. Just knowing you made Georgia smile, even just a few days ago, is comforting to her family.
