George Edward Wells, 81, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Wells was born May 27, 1939, in Wilkes County to Leonard Odell and Pearl Church Wells. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran. Mr. Wells was a member and deacon at Baptist Home Baptist Church and a scoutmaster and leader for Troop 343 for 22 years. He worked in sales and service with the Coca-Cola Corporation. Mr. Wells was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Wells.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Truitt Wells; sons, Mark Wells and spouse, Jill, of Knoxville, Tenn., Bryan Wells and spouse, Wendy, of Greensboro; sister, Dare Stromer of Boomer; grandsons, Cody Wells and Zachary Wells; nephews Ronnie Crisp and spouse, Ann, of Boomer and Aaron Wells and spouse, Charlene, of North Wilkesboro.
Graveside service with military honors by the Brushy Mtn. Marine Corps League Detachment #1187 will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery on Highway 221 in Sparta with Rev. Mark Hollar and Rev. Richard Peck officiating.
