Freda Roten Perry, 72, of Millers Creek, passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2020, at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Medical. Mrs. Perry was born June 30, 1948, in Wilkes County to Alona and Ola Roten. Mrs. Perry was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church. She was a member of Wilkes County Cattlemen’s Association. Freda enjoyed baking with her great-grandchildren. She volunteered at the Wilkes County Fair every year, where she also entered her canned goods. Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kelly Lee Yates; brothers, Bud Roten and Clint Roten; and sister, Nell Knepper.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest “Bud” Perry of the home; daughter, Marsha Jennings and spouse, Darrell, of Millers Creek; son, Chris Yates and spouse, Heather, of Hamptonville; brother, Cliff Roten and spouse, Lois, of Millers Creek; sister, Eula Sheets of West Jefferson; grandchildren, Lacy Cave of Iredell County, Hayley Gregory of North Wilkesboro, Amy Jennings and Samantha Jennings, both of Millers Creek, Brooke Yates of Charlotte, James Yates of Jonesville; and great-grandchildren, Charity Bowlin, Ivy Bowlin, Emma Jennings and Canyon Jennings.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020, at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Arvil Perry and Rev. Charles Younce officiating. Burial will follow in Hunting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted.
