Fred Harold Absher, 82, of McGrady passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2019, at Mountlawn Memorial Park, with Dr. Bert Young officiating.
Mr. Absher was born July 17, 1937, in Wilkes County to Fred William Absher and Lotus Williams Absher. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Absher retired from Tyson Foods, where he worked as operations manager and MIS controller for the East Coast. He was a farmer, a family man and a member of Baptist Home Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Absher is survived by his wife, Joyce Reynolds Absher of the home; two daughters, Adena Absher Greene and husband, Michael, of McGrady and Christy Absher Johnson and husband, Brandon, of McGrady; and a brother, Troy Lee Absher and wife, Rebecca, of North Wilkesboro.
