David Worth Davis

David Worth Davis, 75, of Millers Creek passed away Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center.

Graveside services with Military Honors by the United States Marine Corps will be held 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, at Walnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Moravian Falls with Rev. Sherrill Wellborn officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.

David was born Sept. 2, 1946, in Iredell County to Sidney Clete Davis Sr. and Theresia Clara Gay Clanton Davis. David was a member of the 1962 State Champion Wilkes Center High School football team. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and was a Bronze Star recipient in the United Stated Marines in the Vietnam War. He was awarded uncle of the century by his nieces and nephews. He was an avid Harley-Davidson rider and a die-hard UNC Tarheel fan.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Ethel Alexander, Mazie Taylor, Elanor Bentley, Mary Ann Laws; four brothers, Clyde Davis, Ralph Davis, Mike Davis and Sidney Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Rilla Antoniette Walker Davis, of the home; a step-son, Lewis McNeil of Millers Creek; a sister-in-law, Robin Walker of Moravian Falls; a brother-in-law, Kevin Johnson of Hays; and Amy Batten of Boomer, who was loved like a daughter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Walnut Grove Baptist Church, 6165 Price Road, Moravian Falls NC 28654.
