Darcie Lee Minton Call, 88, of Wilkesboro passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, at Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center. Darcie was born May 14, 1931, in Wilkes County to Ransom Edgar Minton and Connie Lee Parker Minton.
Darcie worked as a seamstress at Bassett Walker and worked at Wilkes Community College in the Child Development Center.
Darcie participated in volunteer work at the Wilkes Heritage Museum and the John A. Walker Community Center. She was a longstanding member of Fishing Creek Arbor Baptist Church and was a member of the choir.
Darcie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ford Elmer Call.
Darcie is survived by her daughters, Brenda Call Hooks (Len) of Chesnee, S.C., and Phyllis Call Johnson (Bryce), Thricia Call Walter (Steve) and Wanda Call Smith (Rick), all of Wilkesboro; two sons, Ransom Call (Shirley) of Wilkesboro and Nelson Call (Laurie) of North Wilkesboro; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020, at Fishing Creek Arbor Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. at Fishing Creek Arbor Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. David Wellborn will be officiating.
