Clayton Eugene Parsons, 68, of North Wilkesboro passed away unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 7, 2020, at his home.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at Scenic Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Sherrill Wellborn and Rev. Gwyn Anderson officiating.
Mr. Parsons was born July 3, 1952, in Wilkes County to Charlie Cavnis and Hazel Virginia Phillips Parsons.
Clayton was a much loved son, brother and uncle. He loved being with his siblings at special occasions, eating, laughing and playing Rook.
Clayton was a huge sports fan and enjoyed watching football, tennis, basketball and especially NASCAR.
He loved the outdoors and nature. Riding and hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway were some of his favorite pastimes. He volunteered with “The Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway” for many years for clean-up day and as a trail volunteer.
Clayton retired from Lowe’s Home Improvement with over 20 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Royal.
He is survived by four sisters, Margaret Blackburn of North Wilkesboro, Martha Anderson and husband, Gwyn, of Wilkesboro, Madelene Johnson and husband, Gary, of Wilkesboro and Mildred Brooks of Millers Creek; a brother, Alvin Parsons and Fran of Millers Creek; a niece; Carol Bumgarner; and nephews, Mike Blackburn, Jeff Anderson, Allan Royal and Marty Parsons.
