Burley “Sam” Hampton Pruitt, 85, of Traphill passed away Monday, May 4, 2020, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Pruitt was born Feb. 25, 1935, in Wilkes County to Paul M. and Dona Richardson Pruitt.
Sam was well-loved by all, always smiling and laughing. Like his brother, John A., he loved cars, was a big fan of NASCAR and enjoyed fly fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John A. Pruitt.
He is survived by his wife, Easteen Baugess Pruitt of the home. They were married on June 21, 1955, and were together for 64 years. He is also survived by two daughters, Wanda Cleary and husband, Richard, of Hays and Elizabeth Comer and boyfriend, Stacey Parker, of Thomasville; one son, Curtis Pruitt and girlfriend, Tracie Sheets, of Traphill; one grandchild, Autumn Brooks and husband, Tyler, of Conover; two great-grandchildren, Garrett and Callum Brooks; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Pruitt of Traphill.
The family requests no memorials or flowers.
