James Brinkley Harris, 68, of Harrison, Tenn., formerly of Wilkes County, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019, at his home. Brinkley was born Feb. 8, 1951, in Wilkes County to the late Willard and Edith Watkins Harris.
Mr. Harris graduated from Wilkes Central High School. He was a one-of-a-kind, special man who was loyal to no avail and deeply cherished his relationships with his friends and family.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army as a communication center specialist. He also worked for 26 years as a dedicated manager for Lowes Companies before retiring.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Harris of the home; one daughter, Kristy Lei Harris of Harrison, Tenn.; one stepson, Andy Adams of Harrison, Tenn.; five brothers, Keltz Harris (Carol) of Hampton, Conn., Douglas Harris (Annie) of North Wilkesboro, Wayne Harris (Janie) of Charlotte and Vincent Harris (Derrion) of Gahanna, Ohio; two sisters, Rochella Walton of, Henderson, Nev., and Linda Dobbins Vaught (Bill) of North Wilkesboro. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Beulah Presbyterian Church, located at 110 Sparta Road, North Wilkesboro, on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at 1 p.m.
