Bobby Lee Shumaker, 82, of Wilkesboro, husband of Shirley Pipes Shumaker, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, at Wake Forest Baptist Health — Wilkes Medical Center after a short illness. Bobby was a firefighter and certified rescue diver for the North Wilkesboro Fire Department for 25 years. He founded, with his father, Tam Shumaker, Key City Auto Supply in 1960. Key City is still a family-owned and operated business.
Bobby was a third-degree Mason and member of the First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro. He was also an avid golfer at Oakwoods Country Club, where he made a golfing family. Bobby lived life to its fullest. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, spending time with his friends and grandchildren. He never missed a recital, game performance or family dinner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tam Shumaker and Estelle Dancy Shumaker.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Pipes Shumaker, of the home; two daughters, Tricia Brown and husband, Richard, of North Wilkesboro, and Tara Nojima and husband, Jerome, of Greeneville; a son, Michael Shumaker of Wilkesboro; five grandchildren, Mitchell, Elizabeth, Lila, Lee, and Gwyn; and one-great-grandchild, Lydia.
Services will be held at a later date.
