Betty Lou Huffman Royal, 88, of Purlear, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Royal was born May 18, 1933, in Wilkes County to John Finley “Bud” and Bessie Mae Nichols Huffman. She was a member of Lewis Fork Baptist Church. Mrs. Royal loved spending time with her family. She was a very hard worker, loved to shop and have new outfits to wear. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Royal; brothers, Fred, Kyle and Garvey Huffman; sisters, Juanita Royal, Nellie Nichols, Verlee Church; and step-son, Ted Royal.
Surviving are her daughters, Audrey Blevins and spouse, Donnie, Janice Combs all of Purlear, Sandra Blevins and spouse, Alfred, of Millers Creek; sisters, Ella Mae Bumgarner, Inez Dancy and spouse, Arnold, all of Purlear; grandchildren, Kevin Church, Christina Parker, Chastity Mathis, Shannon Hall, Tonya Call, Sherry Hager, Matt Blevins, great-grandchildren, Destiny Church, Garrett Church, Tyler Mathis, Wesley Mathis, Andrew Mathis, Hunter Parker, Charles Call Jr., Jacob Call, Walter Call, Marlena Call, Lauren Blevins, Andrew Blevins, Caleb Hager, Abigail Hager and Rebecca Hager.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Lewis Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Sherrill Wellborn officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Flowers will be accepted. The family has requested no food, please.
