Barney Howard Huffman, 77, of Purlear, passed away Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care Home. Barney was born Sept. 9, 1943, in Wilkes County to Howard Lacy and Virgie Roope Huffman. He was a Master Mason, Scottish Rites, truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Local Chapter 391. Mr. Huffman enjoyed doing crafts, loved to fish, camp and gardening. He also enjoyed card games and being with his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rex Huffman; sister, Nena Hoots; and grandson, Charles Howard Huffman.
Mr. Huffman is survived by his wife, Eulean Eller Huffman; sons, Keith Huffman and spouse, Peggy, of Purlear; Kris W. Huffman and spouse, Alicia, of Ferguson; grandchildren, Patti Warlick of Purlear, Garrett Huffman of Purlear, Douglas Huffman of Ferguson; great grandchildren, Nate, Nick, Bella and Jaxson; sisters, Marcy Mitchell of Carolina Shores, Iva Dean Royal and spouse, Dwayne, of Wilkesboro; brothers, Alvin M. Huffman and spouse, Linda, of Wilkesboro and Allen Brent Huffman and spouse, Kathy, of Millers Creek; sister-in-law, Shirley Huffman of Wilkesboro; and several nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020, at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Scott Church officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in Purlear Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Huffman will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Caldwell County Hospice, 526 Pine Mountain Rd., Hudson, N.C. 28638.
