A Wilkes County man recently won a $100,000 prize playing the N.C. Education Lottery’s Spectacular Riches scratch-off game.

Robert Tevepaugh of Moravian Falls was a winner on a $25 scratch-off ticket he received as a Christmas gift from his daughter. She bought the ticket on Christmas Day from the Sheetz convenience store on South State Street in Yadkinville.

Tevepaugh claimed his prize on Dec. 29 at state lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $70,757.

The Spectacular Riches game was launched in October with eight top prizes of $1 million and 20 $100,000 prizes. As of late December, six $1 million prizes and 16 $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

The game also began with 20 $50,000 prizes, 100 $10,000 prizes, 284 $5,000 prizes, 1,995 $1,000 prizes, 49,664 $500 prizes and seven more prize levels down to 1,193,649 $40 prizes.
