Wilkes County Emergency Medical Services will collect donations of winter coats from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Walmart Super Center parking lot in Wilkesboro.

Items needed are new or gently used coats, jackets, hoodies and sweatshirts. All of items collected will be distributed among students in the Wilkes County schools, at the Catherine Barber Homeless Shelter, group homes and Ebenezer Christian Children’s Home.

The goal is to fill up the back of one ambulance present when coats are collected, said a Wilkes EMS spokesman.
