Wilbar Fire and Rescue and Wilkes Emergency Medical Services responded to a four-wheeler accident in which a teenage girl was injured early Sunday morning at 1087 Roten Creek Road, said Wilbar Fire Chief Rick Jennings,

A 17-year-old flipped the four-wheeler she was operating and it landed on her, said Jennings, adding that she was complaining about her back hurting.

The victim had to be carried out in a Stokes rescue basket on foot about a quarter of a mile to a Wilkes EMS ambulance, he said. She was then transported to the hospital. He said the victim was from out of town and was riding with a group of people also on four-wheelers.

Wilbar and Wilkes EMS were dispatched 1:11 a.m. and cleared the scene about 3 a.m. The Wilkes Rescue Squad also was dispatched but this was cancelled.
