Wilkes Community College’s Workforce Development and Community Education Department announced the addition of two new online educational programs, one focusing on cyber security and the other on computer networking.

Both are in two parts and both start Aug. 23.

The Cyber Security Academy will continue through Dec. 10. It includes a free introduction to cyber security course and a CyberOps Associate and Network Security. The program is designed to prepare students to apply for entry-level positions such as associate security analyst and incident responder, as well as prepare them to take the Cisco Certified CyberOps Certification exam.

The Computer Networking Academy, also in two-parts, continues through May 6, 2022. It consists of CCNA Networking Routing & Switching and CCNA Networking Switching/WAN. The program is designed to prepare students will to take the Cisco CCNA Certification exam. Scholarships are available for this program.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for employees for cyber security jobs and computer networking jobs is strong and is expected to grow even stronger.

Except for basic computer knowledge, no experience is required for these programs. Both are 100% online and provide credit toward an information technology degree at WCC.
