A pedestrian died when struck by a car while walking in an N.C. 901 travel lane in Union Grove early Thursday morning.

Amber Trivette Hudspeth, 39, of Union Grove, died at the scene, said Master Trooper Jeffrey Swagger of the N.C. Highway Patrol.

Swagger said Hudspeth was struck by an eastbound 2020 Honda Pilot driven by Christopher Shane Collins, 47, of Laurel Springs about 5:15 a.m. Thursday.

He said Collins wasn’t injured and no charges are expected.

It occurred near the Warren Bridge Road intersection. N.C. 901 was closed for about two hours during an on-scene investigation by the Highway Patrol.
