Thousands in cash and 90 cell phones were stolen in a break-in Sunday morning at Cricket Wireless at 1702 Winkler Street in Wilkesboro, according to Officer P.M. Brown of the Wilkesboro Police Department.
Cricket employee Claudia Perales, 36, of Wilkesboro said she discovered the break-in when she came to open the store shortly before 9 a.m., Brown said.
Store images provided to police showed two masked individuals inside the store at 6:30 a.m., the officer said.
Approximately $9,000 in cash and 90 cell phones were stolen. Brown said a supervisor with Cricket was expected to provide a more accurate figure after store records were inventoried.
The police report said it isn’t known whether or not the suspects were armed.
The incident remains under investigation.
