A survey is being conducted to identify transportation needs and challenges to workforce training, entry and employment in Wilkes County.

To answer questions in the survey, which is part of a study on public transportation in Wilkes County, go to https://forms.gle/ZrsmpEAiMJMSxzbC7.

Paper copies of the survey can be filled out at the Wilkes County Public Library, NCWorks Career Center, Goodwill Family Resource Center, Wilkes County Health Department, Wilkes County Department of Social Services and the Wilkes County Diabetes and Nutrition Center.

The survey was initiated by a partnership consisting of Wilkes Community College, High Country Workforce Development Board and other public entities. Results of the survey will be part of information used by the partnership to formulate recommendations for improving work-related transportation in Wilkes.

The partnership received a $98,013 governor’s transportation grant in March to fund the work. Project Coordinator Paula Eller is working closely with AECOM on the initiative. AECOM is a technical services company providing consulting and other support to the transportation and other industries.
