The North Wilkesboro Police Department is investigating a report of a strong arm robbery at the Dollar General store at 1302 West D Street on Tuesday night.

Major Scott Teague, assistant chief, said a Dollar General employee stated that at about 8:43 p.m. Tuesday, an unknown black male came up to the counter and placed an item on the counter as if he was going to purchase it.

Teague said that when the employee opened the cash register, the suspect grabbed a small unknown amount cash from the register and ran out the front door in an unknown direction. The surrounding area was checked but the suspect could not be located.

He described the suspect as 5'6" in height, with medium build and wearing a blue t-shirt, blue jeans and black boots.

Teague said anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the police department at 336-838-3158.
