Fletcher Reeves, chief probation and parole officer with Community Corrections in Wilkesboro, was among 21 N.C. Department of Public Safety (DPS) employees honored in the Nov. 29 Badge of Excellence Awards Ceremony.
The ceremony is held in Raleigh each year to recognized DPS employees for outstanding achievements in one of the following categories: safety and heroism, innovation and efficiency, public service and volunteerism or customer service.
Reeves was recognized in the public service and volunteerism category.
A DPS press release said that in addition to his achievements in law enforcement and as a member of the Wilkesboro Fire Department, Reeves has volunteers for Special Olympics, Ebenezer Christian Children’s Home and the Matty Brenner Golf Tournament.
He also is a church deacon, Master Mason, member of the Fraternal Order of Police and dresses up as Santa Claus each year when Wilkesboro firefighters give away bags of treats.
Recipients of Badge of Excellence Awards are nominated by their peers and selected by the DPS Badge of Excellence Committee.
