The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office recovered heavy equipment reported stolen in South Carolina and worth about $163,000, stated a press release from Alexander Sheriff Chris Bowman.

Early Wednesday afternoon, Alexander deputies went to Emerald Lane in Hiddenite as a result of a call about a skid-steer stolen from a South Carolina dealership being there.

The press release said that upon arrival, deputies found a skid-steer reported stolen on Sept. 27 from a dealership in York County, S.C.

They also found a John Deere mini-excavator and heavy utility trailer stolen on Sept. 13 from a dealership in Horry County, S.C. The utility trailer was at an emerald mine. Also recovered were two utility trailers stolen in York County, S.C.

The press release said a Caterpillar TL642D telehandler, believed to have been stolen and related to the other thefts, was missing. It said anyone with information about the telehandler is asked to call the Alexander Sheriff’s Office at 828-632-1111 or Alexander County Crime Stoppers at 828-632-8555.
