The Town of North Wilkesboro announced Monday that Ninth Street, between Main and D streets, will be closed for milling Wednesday in preparation for being repaved over the next few weeks.
C Street, between Ninth Street and the Central Business District Loop, will also soon be closed for milling in preparation for being repaved.
“The milling and repaving project will take place in stages, so motorists can expect intermittent closures throughout the month of May,” stated a press release from the town.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes this Wednesday.
The press release said people who normally park along these portions of Ninth Street and C Street are encouraged to park elsewhere during this period.
Other parking options include the town-owned lot on the 800 block of C Street, on-street parking on the 800 block of C Street and town-owned lots between Main Street and the southern portion of the CBD Loop.
Carl Rose & Sons Asphalt Paving is doing the milling and repaving work for about $89,000, funded with North Wilkesboro’s fiscal 2020-21 Powell Bill allocation from the state.
Powell Bill funds are distributed to municipalities by the state for street maintenance and certain other transportation purposes.
