Old Crow Medicine Show, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Steep Canyon Rangers, Allison Russell, and We Banjo 3 are among the latest additions to the lineup for MerleFest 2022, which were announced Monday.

The 2022 edition of the festival is April 28 to May 1 at Wilkes Community College.

Old Crow Medicine Show, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Allison Russell all perform Saturday. The Steep Canyon Rangers and We banjo 3 perform Friday.

Old Crow Medicine Show won two Grammy Awards, one for “Best Folk Album” for “Remedy” in 2014 and the other for “Best Long Form Music Video” for “Big Easy Express” in 2013. The band’s single, “Wagon Wheel,” received the RIAA’s Double-Platinum certification in 2019 for selling over 2 million copies while the band’s debut album O.C.M.S. has been certified Gold (500,000 copies). “Paint This Town” will be released April 22.

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is considered one of the most accomplished bands in American roots music. The group now includes Jeff Hanna (acoustic guitar, electric guitar), Jimmie Fadden (drums, harmonica), Bob Carpenter (keyboards), Jim Photoglo (bass, acoustic guitar), Ross Holmes (fiddle, mandolin), and Jaime Hanna (electric and acoustic guitar).

The Asheville-based Steep Canyon Rangers released three albums in 2020. The Grammy-nominated “North Carolina Songbook” is a recording of the band’s live 2019 performance at MerleFest, in which they performed a selection of songs by North Carolina songwriters Ola Belle Reed, Doc Watson, James Taylor, Ben E. King, and others. “Be Still Moses” has the band teaming with soul legends Boyz II Men and their hometown Asheville Symphony to overhaul the Rangers’ original “Be Still Moses. The most recent release is “Arm in Arm,” which came out in October.

Others artists announced Monday are Darrell Scott, Alison Brown, 49 Winchester, Arlo McKinley, Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band, The Arcadian Wild, Caleb Caudle and Dr. Bacon.
