The Statesville Police Department charged a woman with murder and conspiracy in connection with the Jan. 16 death of a former Wilkes County resident.
Police arrested Qawiesha Khaleelah (“QB”) Tolliver, 26, of East Broad Street, Statesville, on Jan. 23. Tolliver was taken into custody without incident at her residence. She went before a magistrate and was ordered held without bond in the Iredell County Jail on the murder charge and given a $500,000 bond on the conspiracy charge.
On Jan. 16, Statesville police responded to the 1500 block of Eighth Street in reference to a suspicious death. They identified the deceased as Shana Nicole Harmon, 25, of Statesville, and ruled her death a homicide.
A Statesville Police Department press release said Harmon attended Wilkes Central High School from 2009-2011. She also attended the Rowan County Schools and was born in Spartanburg County, S.C
The press release said Statesville police investigators received numerous tips in the case from Statesville citizens in the week prior to Tolliver's arrest. Police also conducted interviews following the homicide. The police department expressed appreciation for the public’s assistance.
