A man was injured in a hit-and-run incident in North Wilkesboro on Sunday, May 9.
Clint Alan Parker, 49, of Ninth Street, Jonesville, was hurt when the moped he was operating westbound on N.C. 268 West near Gardner Glass was struck in the rear by a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Troy Dean Powell, 32, of Gwyn Street, Ronda, said Capt. Brad Mathis of the North Wilkesboro Police Department.
Mathis said that after the accident occurred, Powell exited the Malibu and fled on foot. He said North Wilkesboro police found and arrested him about two hours later.
Police charged Powell with felony hit-and-run, misdemeanor leaving the scene of an accident and driving while license revoked.
Mathis said Parker was flown by AirCare helicopter to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. On May 12, A Wake Baptist spokesman said Parker was still in that hospital and was listed in stable condition.
