A 75-year-old man was flown by AirCare helicopter to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem after he was injured Tuesday evening in a tractor accident in Traphill.

The accident occurred a little before 6 p.m. at 1807 Christian Home Church Road, near the intersection of Old Offen P.O. Road. Wilkes Emergency Medical Services Director Tim Pennington said the man, whose name wasn’t available, had gotten off the tractor to move some limbs when the tractor rolled forward and ran over him.

Pennington said Wilkes EMS records show he had possible leg and chest trauma.

Wilkes EMS transported the victim to a helicopter landing pad behind the Traphill Fire Station on Traphill Road and from there he was flown to Wake Forest Baptist. Traphill Fire Department first responders provided initial treatment at the accident scene.
