A man was injured in a mower accident in Moravian Falls late Tuesday morning.

Clate M. Edsel suffered an apparent chest and/or shoulder injury when the riding mower he was operating went off a steep slope, rolled over and was on top of him at some point, said Moravian Falls Fire Chief Kimi Hamby.

Hamby said Edsel was mowing his yard at his home on Brocktown Road, about one-tenth of a mile off N.C. 16 South, when the accident occurred. The Wilkes Communications Center dispatched emergency personnel at 11:39 a.m.

Wilkes Emergency Medical Services transported Edsel to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, said Hamby. The Wilkes Rescue Squad and Wilkesboro Fire Department were dispatched, in addition to the Moravian Falls Fire Department and Wilkes EMS.
