N.C. Guardian ad Litem (GAL) will offer new volunteer advocate pre-service virtual training in January and February.

These virtual training classes will be offered from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Jan. 19 and 26 and on Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23. There also will be individual online work each week.

Volunteers will be trained to serve as child advocates for the needs of abused and neglected children in court and to help them gain safe and permanent homes.

The registration deadline is Jan. 5. Those wishing to participate must complete an online application and be approved by a GAL district administrator.

Wilkes, Ashe, Alleghany and Yadkin counties compose District 23 of the N.C. Guardian ad Litem program.

The main district office is in Suite 2037 of the Wilkes County Courthouse. There also are satellite offices in the Ashe County Courthouse in Jefferson and the Yadkin County Courthouse in Yadkinville.
