A 16-foot-by-20-foot pole shed containing hay and a pontoon boat on Dehart Community Center Road in Hays were destroyed by a fire Monday afternoon.

Mountain View Fire Chief Brad Mathis said the fire started from the combustion of rolls of freshly-cut, green hay in the shed, which was open on three sides. The value of the loss was estimated at $60,000. The shed and its contents belonged to John Murzin, who lives nearby.

Firefighters were dispatched at 2:38 p.m. Assisting Mountain View were the Traphill and McGrady fire departments. There were no injuries.
