The Wilkesboro Police Department charged a man with felony fleeing to elude arrest, child abuse and other offenses after a motor vehicle chase on Jan. 13.
Charged is Jason Cody Miller, 20, of Millers Creek.
Wilkesboro Officer K.J. Gambill reported that at about 10 p.m. Jan. 13, he was stationary at the intersection of N.C. 16 North and U.S. 421 when he checked the tag on a red 1990 Infiniti and found that it was revoked and came back to a Buick Century.
Gambill said he activated his lights and siren to stop the vehicle, but it ran a red light at the intersection of U.S. 421 and Dancy Road and proceeded at speeds over 80 mph.
He said the pursuit continued eastward on U.S. 421 to Red, White & Blue Road, Ruth Linney Road and Wilkes Yadkin Road, where speeds were approximately 101 mph to 110 mph.
The chase came back to U.S. 421 where speeds were about 110 mph. Yadkin deputies assisted in the pursuit after passing Asbury Church Road on U.S. 421 and as it went on secondary roads in Yadkin County. The Infiniti dodged stop strips placed by Yadkin deputies on Reavis Road and then crashed into a ditch off Wilcox Road.
The driver, found to be Jason Cody Miller, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor child abuse due to two juveniles, males ages 14 and 17, being in the vehicle.
