A doctor formerly employed at Bethany Medical Center on Independence Avenue below downtown North Wilkesboro has been charged with soliciting prostitution, according to North Wilkesboro Police Chief Joe Rankin.
Dr. Christopher Morrow Justis of State Road surrendered to authorities at the Wilkes County Jail, Rankin said. He was released with an Aug. 19 court date.
The victim in the case was one of Justis’ patients at Bethany, Rankin said. The incident occurred in late 2018, he noted.
Criminal Investigations Sgt. Shannon Anderson, who was made aware of the allegation, investigated and obtained a warrant charging Justis. Soliciting prostitution is a misdemeanor.
Area news reports indicate that Justis, an anesthesiologist and pain management specialist, hasn’t worked for Bethany in two months.
