A member of a construction crew building a house on Briar Creek Drive in the Mulberry community was seriously injured in a fall about 10 a.m. Friday.

“He was inside the house working on an elevated surface when he fell about 20 feet to the basement,” said Dion Burleson, quality control officer for Wilkes Emergency Medical Services. The basement had a concrete floor.

Wilkes EMS transported the victim to the nearby Mulberry-Fairplains Fire & Rescue Station, where a Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center AirCare helicopter landed and then flew him to Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem.

Mulberry-Fairplains Fire and Rescue also responded. No additional information was available.
