Brushy Mountain ice storm

The Brushy Mountains are known for ice storms. In some sections of the Brushies, all of the mature yellow poplar trees fork at the same point due to an severe ice storm years ago snapping off their tops. Brushy Mountain Fire Chief Gregg Hendren said ice was about three-quarters of an inch thick on tree limbs Saturday.
