Firefighters responding to a mobile home fire on Pine Meadows Lane in the Vashti community of northern Alexander County Saturday night found two deceased people, both burned beyond recognition, in different rooms after extinguishing the blaze.

The Alexander Sheriff’s Office reported that an autopsy is scheduled today to confirm the identities of the victims. According to media reports, one of the two was a young boy and the other a woman.

The sheriff’s office reported that Areli Aguirre Avilez, identified as a person of interest in the case, was located walking along Macedonia Church Road south of Taylorsville about 1:20 p.m. Sunday.

The sheriff's office reported that mobile home was fully engulfed in fire, which is believed to have resulted from arson, when members of the Sugar Loaf, Vashti and Taylorsville fire departments arrived. The fire was reported at 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Pine Meadows Lane is near the northern end of Black Oak Ridge Road. The Alexander Sheriff’s Office, State Bureau of Investigation and Alexander County Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating.
