The Wilkesboro Police Department has arrested a woman in the hit and run deaths of two people whose bodies were found Sunday near the Curtis Bridge Road bridge over the Yadkin River

Arrested Tuesday evening was Kelly Diane Snapp, 43, of Wilkesboro, said Wilkesboro Police Chief Craig Garris.

Garris said Wilkesboro police charged Snapp with two counts of felonious hit and run resulting in death in connection with the deaths of Stephanie Lynn Chahoy, 40, and Chase Eugene Crawford, 35, both of North Wilkesboro. He said Snapp is in the Wilkes County Jail.

The car believed to have been involved in the hit and run was located and seized.

"We will be consulting with the district attorney's office tomorrow regarding the case for consideration of further charges," said Garris.

He said the charges resulted from a continuous investigative approach and information from a concerned public, the State Bureau of Investigation and the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles.

"Key evidence was located during the crime scene processing by our crash reconstruction team," said Garris. The team is led by Capt. Jason Delbert and is comprised of officers from the Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro police departments.

"We are grateful to live in a community with such a supportive population that provided vital information in this case."
