The Wilkes Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Saturday at his home in connection with a break-in and larceny of property listed with a value of $35,200.
Charles Wayne Edwards, 37, of Bassett Road, Millers Creek, is charged with breaking and entering, larceny and obtaining property by false pretense.
He is charged with breaking into the home of Sarah Lea Laws on High Rock Road in Boomer and stealing gold and silver rings worth $15,000, gold and silver coins worth $20,000, two tablets worth $200 and bank checks. Records indicate that the property hasn’t been recovered.
Laws reported on July 2 that her home was broken into and items were stolen on two occasions. She stated that she suspected a contractor she hired for remodeling, said Capt. Logan Kerr.
Edwards is in the Wilkes County Jail with a $15,000 secured bond.
