Traffic was blocked both ways on N.C. 16 North and detoured for about two hours Tuesday morning as a result of a wreck near the Congo Road intersection in Wilkesboro and near Millers Creek.

The wreck involved three vehicles and occurred about 7:20 a.m.

N.C. 16 North was reopened to traffic about 9:15 a.m.

The driver of one of the vehicles was pinned-in for about 20 minutes and was transported by Wilkes Emergency Medical Services to Atrium Heath Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

A passenger in the vehicle in which the driver was pinned-in and the driver of another vehicle were transported by Wilkes EMS to Wilkes Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The Wilkesboro Police Department responded and is investigating. Millers Creek Fire & Rescue and the Wilkes Rescue Squad also responded.

No additional details were immediately available.
