Eric Burnett, 31, of Purlear, was injured on Tuesday afternoon, June 4, at a swimming hole called the Devil's Wash Tub on Fall Creek in the Purlear area of far western Wilkes County.

As of the afternoon of June 5, Burnett was listed in good condition at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Burnett stated that he fractured a foot and his back. He was flown by AirCare helicopter to the hospital on June 4.

The Devil’s Wash Tub is on private property. Owners of the property have posted “no trespassing” signs and say they strongly advise people against jumping from rocks into Falls Creek there. Numerous people have been injured at that location.
