MR. AND MRS. ADAM DAVID WHITMAN

Brittany Nicole Greene and Adam David Whitman were married Sept. 24, 2016, in Lake Lure. The Rev. Eric Johnson officiated at the 5 p.m. ceremony. Chris Coloson provided wedding music.

The bride is the daughter of Randy and Rose Greene of Purlear and David and Diane Dunn of Lenoir. Her grandparents are Barbara Greene of Purlear and the late John Greene. She is a graduate of West Wilkes High School and the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The bride is currently enrolled in the master of business administration program at the Leeds School of Business in Boulder, Colo. She is employed as a financial analyst for GHX in Boulder, Colo.

The groom is the son of David and Jennifer Whitman of Wilkesboro. He is a graduate of Wilkes Central High School and is a 2007 graduate of Appalachian State University with a degree in marketing. He is employed by Net Apps in Boulder, Colo., as a senior technical support engineer.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a pearl-beaded, strapless gown, designed with an empire waistline and a sweeping train. She wore a single-tiered, tulle veil with a lace border, and carried a bouquet of hydrangeas and lilies, accented with peach roses, snapdragons and hypericum berries.

Niza Sulahry of Charlotte was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Patricia Laya and Danielle Adams of Washington, D.C., Carrie Tillett-Saks of Tallahassee, Fla. and Caitlin Styres of Atlanta, Ga. Junior bridesmaid was Courtney Greene of Purlear, sister of the bride.

Matthew Whitman, brother of the groom, served as best man. Ushers were Bradley Call and Ben Forester of North Wilkesboro, Craig Towler and Rich Oppenheim of Boulder, Colo.

Allyssa Dixon directed the wedding ceremony.

Following a wedding trip to Italy, including Florence, Rome and Naples, the couple is residing in Erie, Colo.

Reception

A reception was held in honor of the bridal couple in the banquet room of Lake Lure Inn and Spa. Guests were served steak, chicken, potatoes and salad, along with a fudge marble wedding cake with buttercream icing. Cupcakes and assorted cookies were also served for dessert.

Rehearsal dinner

The prospective groom’s parents were hosts for the rehearsal dinner in the garden, at the Lake Lure Inn and Spa.

Prenuptial event

Prior to the wedding, a party honoring the bridal couple was held at the Oakwoods Country Club. Hosts were Terry and Evelyn Bumgarner, F.D. and Mary Forester and Pete and Wilma Lovette. The couple was presented with a gift of Waterford crystal champagne glasses.
