Gary and Gaye Nichols of Anderson, S.C., recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary during an extended weekend celebration with their family in Sevierville, Tenn. They were West Wilkes High School sweethearts and were married at Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Millers Creek on July 29, 1962.
Attending the celebration were their three adult children, nine grandchildren, their spouses, and one great-grandson. They were honored with a catered 60th anniversary dinner, a family golf tournament, and lots of other family fun activities.
Mr. Nichols is the son of the late A.F. and Becky Nichols of North Wilkesboro. He retired from Lowes Companies and was an automotive business owner.
Mrs. Nichols is the former Gaye Parsons, the daughter of the late R.F. and Dell Parsons of Millers Creek. She retired from AnMed Health, Anderson, S.C., as long-time director of the radiologic technology program.
