Natalie Alisa Caroline West and Andrew Scott Marley were married Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at Welcome Home Baptist Church, North Wilkesboro. The Rev. John Triplett and the Rev. Richard Whittington officiated at the ceremony. Wedding music was provided by Mrs. Cynthia Collins, pianist, Heidi Holloway, violinist, and Doug Holbrook and Bekah Logan, vocalists.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nat B. West II of Welcome Home Road, North Wilkesboro.  She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donell Johnson, Justin West, Calvin Griffin and the late Virginia Griffin. The bride is a graduate of West Wilkes High School, Wilkes Community College and Appalachian State University, with a bachelor of science degree in special education and a minor in communication sciences and disorders and a minor in Spanish. The bride is employed by Wilkes County Schools as a special education teacher at West Wilkes High School.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Scott Marley of Ferguson and is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Marley, Danny Jones, Mrs. Elza Jones and the late Connie Richardson Harris. He is a graduate of West Wilkes High School and is employed as an electrician.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a tulle, corded, embroidered, beaded ball gown. The sweetheart neckline and illusion back were adorned with floral appliques. She wore a matching bridal headpiece with scalloped and beaded lace and a   single tier veil with a rolled edge. The bride carried a bouquet of red roses.

Bridesmaids were Sarah Coleman, Mrs. Candice Moore, Margaret Cross, Ashley Bumgarner and Mrs. Amanda Jensen.

Timothy Scott Marley served as best man for his son. Groomsmen were Brad Dodd, Jermain Moore, Chris West and Ethan West.

Miss Lily Jensen was flower girl. Jackson Coleman served as ring bearer. Rylan Cross and Lydia Underwood carried the bride’s train.

The couple’s cocker spaniel, Daisy, was part of the ceremony.

Mrs. Linda Hall Lankford and Mrs. Fran Lankford York directed the wedding ceremony. Linda Grace York attended the guest register. The bride’s mother, Lisa West, and her grandmother, Lucille Johnson, served as wedding planners.

Following a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple is residing in Woodfield, Wilkesboro.


A reception was held in honor of the bridal couple in the fellowship hall of Welcome Home Baptist Church. Tables were covered with white cloths and were centered with arrangements of wreaths and candles. Each window was decorated with mementos of the bride and groom from birth until the wedding.

The four-tiered wedding cake was topped with a nosegay of fresh roses.

Assisting in serving were Susan Coleman, Mrs. Linda Church, Mrs. Niki Patrick, Mrs. Marcella Greer and Mrs. Teresa Neel.

Prenuptial events

The prospective groom’s parents, Scotty and Jennie Marley were hosts at a rehearsal dinner in honor of the bridal couple, at the Brushy Mountain Smokehouse.

Mrs. Marcella Greer, the bride-elect’s great-aunt, was hostess at a bridesmaids’ luncheon honoring Miss West and her attendants, at the Greer home in Beacon Ridge, Wilkesboro.
