On June 11, family and friends gathered to celebrate the 90th birthday of Reva Tugman McLean. Over 150 well wishers attended the event given by Mrs. McLean’s children, Rita Smith, Rene Dills, Rusty McLean and Rob McLean.
Many balloons, pictures and pages of sheet music decorated the fellowship hall of Fairplains Baptist Church where Mrs. McLean has played piano and organ and taught Sunday school for most of her 90 years. Guests were treated to cake, fruit, punch or soda provided by friends and family of Mrs. McLean.
Posters of famous people and events of 1927 decorated the walls as well as a poster stating “90 Reasons We Love Reva.” Guests were invited to post their comments.
Mrs. McLean and her late husband, Russell McLean, raised four children, both worked full-time, and were active in their church and community. She has eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and continues to play the organ at church, take art lessons and enjoy the retired life.
