Robert J. and Dorothea P. Reed of Moravian Falls celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary  recently at a family outing given by their children, Christine Reed, Judy and Dave Walker and Karen and Fred Brason II, as well as 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Those who attended, including other family members, came from as far away as Arizona, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia and New York; as well as those who reside in North Carolina. The outing was held at Fort Hamby Park, at W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir, in the foothills of North Carolina.

The Reeds (Bob and Dottie) retired to Moravian Falls, in 2009 from Amherst, N.Y. They were co-owners of Courtyard Antique Center in Clarence, N.Y., for several years and conducted estate sales in Western New York for many years, as well. They were known as D and B Estate Sales. Previously, Mr. Reed worked as chief yield clerk at the Tonawanda Refinery of Ashland Oil for 30 years.

The Reeds were married on Sept. 7, 1946, in Buffalo, N.Y., after Mr. Reed returned from the South Pacific, where he served 2-1/2 years with the United States Army during World War II.
