Manuel and Jill Mastin Brown recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married in an outdoor wedding  June 28, 1969 at the home of the bride.

Mr. and Mrs. Brown were given a celebration party by their children and grandchildren on June 29 at Benton Hall Community Arts Center’s Great Hall. Approximately 75 friends and family attended.

The Browns have one son, Jody Brown of Wilkesboro, and two daughters, Melissa Taylor and husband, Larry of North Wilkesboro, and Mandy Matney and husband, Lucas, of Wilkesboro. They also have five grandchildren, Tyler Brown and wife, Mindy, DaSheria Perry and husband, Jonathan, Travis Brown, Alex Moretz and Ila Jean Matney. Their great-grandchildren are Anthony, Lily, Evelyn and Natalie Brown.

Mr. Brown retired from JPS Composite Materials in Statesville after 47 years of service. He was a loom maintenance technician.

Mrs. Brown worked in Statesville for 13 years and has worked in the Wilkes County School System as a substitute teacher for 28 years.

For their anniversary, the Browns took an 11-day, 10- night trip to Bar Harbor, Maine and then on into points of interest in Canada, including Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.
