Kenneth Edwin Byrd and Ida Fay Caudle Byrd celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary with a family dinner in their honor on Aug. 27, at Cracker Barrel, Jonesville.

The couple has two children, Teressa Rene Byrd and Edwin Scott Byrd; three grandchildren, Kenneth (Kenny) Byrd, Alisha Byrd and wife, Amanda Canter, and Brandon McGuire and wife, Brandy; and two great-grandchildren, Breanna Canter and Dakota Adams.

Mr. Byrd retired from Lowe’s Hardware in 1969 after 15 years of employment, and now works for 3WC radio as a sports broadcaster.

Mrs. Byrd retired from Wilkes Community College as director of learning resources in June 2012 after 46 years of employment. She also served on the Wilkes County Board of Education and was a Wilkes County commissioner. Mrs. Byrd also was the author of a book, “Wilkes County Bits and Pieces.”

The Byrds were married Aug. 27, 1959 at Maple Springs United Methodist Church.
